Mumbai: A social media influencer has been booked in a case of alleged sexual assault and for threatening the survivor at gunpoint. The Sahar police registered an FIR against the suspect,
Anwar Khan, based on the complaint received from the survivor, who is employed with the Ministry of External Affairs. The case was registered after the survivor learned that the suspect had posted explicit pictures of her on social media.
The case was registered on Monday after the survivor approached the police when Khan allegedly threatened her at gunpoint after repeatedly sexually assaulting her. "Khan has gone hiding ever since he learned that the FIR has been registered against him. Teams has been formed to nab him," said a police officer of the Sahar police station.
According to the survivor, Khan, who is known for showcasing a lavish lifestyle online, befriended her on social media. In the FIR, she said: "Khan has repeatedly sexually assaulted me at multiple locations, along with physical abuse, harassment, and coercion. He also threatened me at gunpoint and warned of death when I asked him to marry."
A case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 69 (sexual intercourse obtained through deceitful means, such as a false promise to marry), 89 (miscarriage), 115 (2) (hurt), 351 (2) (criminal intimidation), and under the Information Technology Act section 67 (A) has been registered against Khan.
