Month after man’s death in Mumbai, family alleges harassment, submits video clips to police
Mumbai: A month after a 26-year-old man died under mysterious circumstances, his family has alleged that he was being harassed by three people and submitted to the GRP a video clip purportedly shot by him before his death on the railway tracks.
Jayesh Parmar, a Kandivli resident, left home on April 5 on a friend’s motorcycle. Later, his family received a phone call from the friend that Parmar was found injured near the railway tracks at Kandivli. By the time his family reached the location, Parmar was moved to the Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital in Kandivli.
As his condition was serious, doctors suggested he should be moved to a better-equipped hospital. Parmar’s family then moved him to the Nair Hospital in Mumbai Central, where he underwent a surgery. But his condition remained serious, and he died at the hospital on April 10. A post-mortem examination carried out the same day gave the cause of death as “septicaemia following head injury in an alleged case of alcohol intoxication”.
The Borivli GRP recorded a case of accidental death.
Speaking to TOI, Parmar’s sister said his phone was locked. “The family wanted to access his photos and sought help to take a backup of his data. We came across two video clips and WhatsApp chat conversations. One of the video clips appears to have been recorded on the railway tracks ... my brother says in it that he plans to end his life. He has also named two women and a man who got him beaten up,” Parmar’s sister said. The family has demanded a thorough probe into the matter.
