Bijnor: A major fraud involving the illegal resale of finance-backed tractors has surfaced in Bijnor district, exposing an organised gang accused of purchasing tractors on loan, forging documents and reselling them without obtaining ‘no objection certificates (NOCs)’ from finance companies. During investigation, police recovered seven tractors worth around Rs 53 lakh from various locations.
Bijnor SP Abhishek Jha said the gang would buy tractors through loans from several firms. After purchase, they allegedly changed number plates, tampered with chassis and created forged documents to sell the tractors multiple times in different locations. Once the tractors were sold repeatedly, finance firms were unable to trace the vehicles or recover pending loan instalments.
On April 27, 2026, complaints were registered at Mandawar police station after the firms reported missing tractors. Cases were filed under relevant sections of the BNS against the accused.
Police identified the main accused as Javed, along with associates Sanjeev Kumar and Bhupendra Singh, all residents of Bijnor district. Investigators revealed that Javed had previously been accused of a similar tractor fraud case in Pratapgarh district.
All three accused are currently absconding. Two police teams have been formed to track them down, and officials say arrests will be made soon as further legal action continues.
