Bijnor, In a major breakthrough, Bijnor police on Monday busted an exam paper racket by arresting three paper solvers and an examinee who were allegedly trying to rig the ongoing police constable recruitment exam.
Around 45,000 candidates took the exam for constable’s post held in 14 centres across Bijnor district.
An exam room observer at Krishna College found that the fingerprints of an “examinee” solver did not match with those of candidate concerned and he informed the higher authorities.
After receiving the information, police rushed to the spot and arrested Mohit Kumar of Aligarh. He was writing the exam in place of real examinee, Himanshu Kumar of Shamli. The gang had taken Rs 2 lakh from Himanshu for solving the paper.
When police grilled him, Mohit Kumar spilled the beans and named other members of the gang — Umesh Kumar, Aash Mohammad and Sarfaraj — all residents of Bijwara village under Banoli police station area of Baghpat district.
Bijnor SP Sanjeev Tyagi said police have arrested examinee Himanshu, his hired solver Mohit Kumar and other members of the gang — Umesh Kumar and Aash Mohammad. A hunt is on to nab Sarfaraj.
