Meerut: As many as 150 Anganwadi workers, most of them engaged in Special Intensive Revision (SIR) duties, are set to face termination for failing to distribute Take Home Ration (THR) on time in Bulandshahr.
District Programme Officer (DPO) Poonam Tiwari said the action was initiated in Pahasu and Anupshahr blocks against these workers due to non-compliance with the nutrition tracker portal's FRS system for THR distribution.
"The decision stems from lapses in timely nutrition delivery, a critical responsibility under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme. An online dashboard review shows zero FRS distributions over Dec 2025–Feb 2026, flouting govt orders," said Tiwari.
Tiwari said that, to ensure transparency, the Child Development Services and Nutrition Department mandates supplementary nutrition distribution via the Nutrition Tracker portal's Facial Recognition System (FRS). This timely delivery to Anganwadi centres allows workers to serve beneficiaries within deadlines. However, these Anganwadi staff were negligent.
On the other hand, the Anganwadi workers said they were directed to finish the SIR work first, and they were unable to perform the core welfare task.
"The termination is unjust. We cannot perform multiple duties at one time. We are overburdened," said Savitri Chaudhary.
"The mobile phones given to us are outdated, and the new software does not work on them. Somehow, we arrange mobile phones on our end. We are paid Rs 6k per month, and most of the time, our salary is delayed."
In Bulandshahr district, there are 3,927 Anganwadi workers.
