UP: Minor girl raped for months in Bareilly; gives birth, premature baby dies within minutes
BAREILLY: An 11-year-old girl who was allegedly raped over a period of four months by her 40-year-old neighbour gave birth to a premature baby, died within 30 minutes of delivery, at a hospital in Bareilly on Saturday, police said on Sunday, adding that she underwent an ultrasound last week and was found to be seven months pregnant.
Circle officer, Nilesh Mishra, said, "We have taken note of the heinous matter. An FIR has been registered under BNS sections 65-2 (rape of a girl under 12 years of age), 351 (criminal intimidation), and the Pocso Act. The accused has been arrested and sent to jail."
The survivor's brother filed a police complaint, a copy of which is with TOI, describing the ordeal of his 11-year-old sister.
The complaint said: "My sister, for the past few days, was complaining of severe stomach pain. I got medicines for her following a prescription from our village doctor. However, there was no relief. On Thursday, I took her to a private hospital, and the doctor advised me to get an ultrasound done. After the ultrasound, the doctor said — to our sheer shock — that my sister was over six months pregnant."
The complaint added: "When I confronted my sister, she told me that about 7–8 months ago, our neighbour took her home on the pretext of giving her a fruit and then violated her. He also recorded the act. She said she was traumatised and kept crying, pleading to let her go.
That man also threatened to kill her and make the video public. After that, she said he continued to do terrible things to her against her will.
She said the man is married and has two children — aged around 8 and 10. And he repeatedly sexually assaulted my little sister and made her pregnant. He should be punished and I hope my sister gets justice."
