Second Mangaluru open shooting championship from May 26
Mangaluru: The Second Mangalore Open Shooting Championship 2026, organised by the Mangalore Rifle Club, will be held from May 26 to 30 in city.Over 450 shooters from various states are expected to participate in the championship, which aims to bring together shooting enthusiasts, promote the sport at the grassroots level, and provide a competitive platform for aspiring shooters, according to Mukesh Kumar, founder-secretary of the club.International-level shooters from Karnataka will take part in the event and will also be felicitated, a move aimed at inspiring young and upcoming athletes.Special importance is being given to the Indian Armed Forces, with shooting athletes from the Indian Army invited to participate. A separate dedicated event will be held to recognise and honour their excellence and contribution to the sport.The qualification rounds will be held at the club at Jugul Towers, Mallikatte, while the finals will take place at the US Mallya Indoor Stadium.The Mangalore Rifle Club, established in 2017 has trained 32 national-level shooters.
