Ramanathapuram: Police booked 12 supporters of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) for reckless behaviour during the celebrations of the party's assembly election victory in Ramanathapuram on Tuesday. A video clip of the supporters hanging from a moving vehicle and shouting slogans went viral on social media.
Police said five supporters were hanging from outside of the car while seven were seated inside. They created a ruckus while driving near the new bus stand in the rain, putting themselves and the public at risk, police said.
Members of the public informed the Kenikarai police, who registered a case against the supporters under sections 125 (endangering human life or personal safety) and 292 (public nuisance) of BNS and Section 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Police arrested them and released them on bail the same day.
