Man held for making cracker fuses illegally

Tirunelveli: A 42-year-old man was arrested by Tirunelveli district police on Wednesday on charges of manufacturing cracker fuses illegally.Police said they searched a house at Sivanthipatti village on Wednesday evening based on a tip and found Manikaraja of the village has been manufacturing cracker fuses there. Police booked Manikaraja under the Explosive Substances Act and arrested him. Police said he rented the house in the guise of manufacturing candles and, without obtaining a proper licence, he manufactured cracker fuses.Police confiscated 15 types of articles used for manufacturing cracker fuses, including chemicals such as ammonium nitrate and potassium.
