Ludhiana: Police arrest drug peddler with 1.5kg opium

LUDHIANA: The Khanna police on Monday arrested a drug peddler after they recovered one and a half kilograms opium from him on GT road in Doraha. The accused was identified as Sukhvir Singh of village Bheni Mattuya in Tarn Taran District.SSP Khanna Dhruv Dahiya said they had started a special campaign against drug trafficking and misdemeanors. He added that during this campaign police were checking suspected vehicles and persons at Hi-Tech check post on G.T Road in Doraha.Police said that during the checking, police stopped the accused on suspicion who was coming from the Bus Stand Doraha side.They added that the accused was holding a bag and after it was searched, police found 1.5 kilogram of opium. Police said that a case under Section 18/61/85 NDPS Act was registered against the accused at the Doraha police station and he was arrested.
