‘People now pick devpt, not swayed by appeasement politics'
Lucknow: BJP MLA Rajeshwar Singh on Wednesday said that the country’s political mood had shifted decisively against appeasement politics and in favour of development, nationalism and cultural identity. Targeting the opposition, especially the Samajwadi Party and its chief Akhilesh Yadav, Singh claimed that the opposition’s “nervousness” reflected its weakening public support.
Addressing reporters in Lucknow, Singh said people no longer accepted politics based on casteism, dynasty, protection of infiltrators, or glorification of criminals. Referring to West Bengal, he alleged that the “failure of appeasement politics” in the state had exposed the limits of vote-bank politics. He claimed the public had rejected attempts to suppress Hindu religious sentiments for electoral gains.
Singh alleged that issues such as restrictions on Durga puja pandals, encouragement of prayers on roads and protection of Rohingya infiltrators had triggered resentment among people. He also claimed that the public had rejected “Fatiha politics associated with gangsters like Mukhtar Ansari and Atiq Ahmed.”
Singh said the country now preferred politics centred on development, security, nationalism and pride in Sanatan traditions and the Ram Mandir.
