Lucknow: After hectic duty ensuring law and order during festival across the city, Lucknow Police personnel took time on Thursday to celebrate Holi with fervour, music and camaraderie. Personnel from various police stations and outposts gathered at Hazratganj Kotwali in the morning, where celebrations began with officers and constables smearing gulal on one another before moving in a procession towards Lucknow Police Lines. Women police personnel joined, some riding vintage cars. Officers wore festive caps, sunglasses and masks and burst gulal crackers.
Lucknow police commissioner Amrendra Singh Sengar and joint commissioner of police (law and order) Babloo Kumar joined with senior officers.
Commissioner Sengar made a grand entry, seated on a decorated chariot driven by additional DCP (Central Zone) Jitendra Kumar Dubey. Sharing the chariot were DCP (central zone) Vikrant Vir and Babloo Kumar.

Police personnel welcomed senior officers them with garlands, colourful caps and dark glasses before escorting them to a decorated horse-drawn carriage. "A day after Holi, it's the turn of Lucknow Police to celebrate even as we extend warm wishes for happiness and harmony to all," said commissioner Sengar, greeting the personnel.
Officers and constables showered flower petals on Sengar and splashed buckets of coloured water amid cheers, music and dance. ACP Vikas Jaiswal, joined personnel dancing along the route. Back at Hazratganj Kotwali, they played with colours and shared sweets. SHO Vikram Singh said those who could not participate in procession marked the festival at their respective police stations, celebrating after completing duty.
