Lucknow: A Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court on Friday stayed the further joining of successful candidates under the RO-ARO Recruitment Examination 2023 amid a dispute over implementation of reservation in the selection process. The bench fixed May 12 for next hearing.
A bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Manjeev Shukla passed the order on a special appeal filed by
Vivek Yadav and others.
The petitioners have challenged the Feb 1, 2026, order of a single judge bench that refused to grant interim relief on their petition. Their lawyer Alok Mishra argued that the appellants belong to the OBC category and had secured marks in the preliminary examination higher than at least 25 candidates from the general category selected for the mains examination. Despite this, the appellants were declared unsuccessful in the preliminary test, he submitted.
Opposing the plea, state govt and UP Public Service Commission informed the court that most successful candidates under the recruitment process had already been appointed.
