Chances of rain in city low: Met
Kolkata: After a series of thundershowers protected the city from heat and humidity last week, the mercury is set to be on rising trend with less possibility on rain in the next few days. Alipore weather office sources said that most thundershowers activities will now happen in north Bengal while chanced of rain in south Bengal, including Kolkata, becomes low. The maximum temperature had dipped as low as 30°C last Thursday coinciding with the city logging close to 50 mm of rain. Even as the rain amounts in the next two to three days was not very significant, gusty wind and partly cloudy sky continued to shield the city from the scorching sun, despite the gradual mercury rise. On Tuesday at 34.6°C it continued to hover below the normal mark. The minimum temperature at 26.3°C was also slightly below normal."We can expect slight rise in mercury but the maximum temperature is likely to stay around the normal mark. Hence despite slight discomfort the weather will still be tolerable," said a meteorologist.
