Water supply to be disrupted on May 13
Kochi: Water supply to the city and suburbs will be disrupted on May 13 as KWA's water treatment plant at Aluva will be shut down for annual maintenance.Though maintenance will be completed by 6pm and supply will be resumed, it will take around 24 hours for the water to reach tail-end areas. The water supply to Kochi corporation limits, Aluva, Kalamassery, Eloor and Thrikkakara municipalities, and Edathala, Keezhmad, Choornikkara, Cheranellore, Mulavukad, Elamkunnapuzha and Njarakkal panchayats will be disrupted, KWA officials informed. It is part of the annual maintenance prior to the monsoon that the shutdown is being done, officials said. "We will have to complete repair works, especially those related to the electrical parts, before monsoon. Otherwise, it may lead to power failures due to the formation of fungus on electrical parts causing short circuits. That's why we carry out the maintenance just before monsoon," a KWA official said.
