Kochi: Two teenagers drowned in Muvattupuzha river in Avoly on Sunday night.
Deceased were identified as Chris Binu, 17, of Pareekapeedika, Avoly, and Ashwin V S, 17, of Vazhakulam. They went for a bath in Vallikada ghat on Sunday evening. Muvattupuzha fire force said the teens got washed away in the current.
Fire force said they received intimation about the teens going missing around 7.30pm on Sunday. Searches were held till 1am, but they could not be traced. Ashwin was found dead close to the spot where he went missing around 6am on Monday. Chris's body was found a bit far in the river from Pozhakkarakavu around 10.30am, fire officials said.
Woman killed in accident
A 51-year-old woman who was on her way to work on a two-wheeler was killed in a
road accident on Palarivattom Bypass on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as A V Sindhu of Chatham Road, Panangad.
Accident occurred near Puthiya Road bus stop on the bypass. A car that was moving ahead of her in the same direction turned onto service road, when her scooter brushed against its rear. Sindhu lost control of the scooter and was thrown off it. She fell under a truck and got run over.
She was a clerk at dredger sub-division office at Kakkanad Civil Station. Palarivattom police registered a case. The body was handed over to kin after an autopsy.
