Palakkad: A 45-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his nephew following a drunken altercation over serving chicken curry at Vadakarapathy near Kozhinjampara on Sunday night.

Senthil Kumar, a native of Kunthannur. Kozhinjampara police arrested the accused, Prabhakaran (33), and later produced him before the Chittur first class magistrate court, which remanded him in judicial custody.
According to police, the incident occurred around 8pm when the two, after consuming alcohol together, got into a dispute while having dinner. The argument reportedly began after Prabhakaran was not served chicken curry prepared by Senthil Kumar.
Following the dispute, Senthil Kumar stepped out of the house. However, Prabhakaran allegedly intercepted him and struck him on the head with an iron rod, the FIR stated.
Neighbours rushed the critically injured Senthil Kumar to a private hospital in Velanthavalam, but he succumbed to his injuries. Prabhakaran, who fled the scene after the attack, was arrested near the Tamil Nadu border on Monday morning.
Senthil Kumar, a daily wage labourer, was unmarried and lived with his sister. Prabhakaran, also unmarried, worked at nearby cattle farms. The two were neighbours.
