Kochi: The non-functioning of streetlights in Muvattupuzha has become a major concern, with residents and opposition councillors demanding urgent action. Several areas remain in darkness at night, raising fears over safety and antisocial activities.
Opposition leader Majeed Mangat said people are forced to rely on shop lights to commute. "Two individuals lost their lives in the past week. These accidents could have been avoided with proper street lighting," he said.
The opposition has announced a protest march next week against the municipality's inaction. tnn
