Kochi: Ernakulam child welfare committee (CWC) on Wednesday sent back a 14-year-old boy who went missing from his home in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. The boy, who is suffering from attention deficiency hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), was found wandering around Aluva railway station on Sunday by RPF and handed over to Childline, which in turn produced him before CWC. The boy was later shifted to a rescue home. Initially, he refused to divulge the details of his native place, leading the counselling team to make rapport with him.
"On Tuesday, he said that his native place is Tiruchirappalli and we contacted our counterparts in TN. They intimated the police team in charge of probing missing children's cases in TN. They located the boy's house and alerted his parents. TN officials arranged for the journey of the father and uncle in the night itself. The duo reached Ernakulam on Wednesday morning, and we repatriated the boy after completing the procedures," said CWC chairperson Ullas Madhu.
He added that the repatriation was made possible within a span of a few hours, thanks to the fast coordination from both sides. tnn
