Kerala assembly polls: Writer M Leelavathy hands over poll deposit to Uma Thomas
Thrikkakara: Continuing a long-standing practice, noted writer and teacher M Leelavathy handed over the election deposit to UDF candidate from Thrikkakara Uma Thomas for the upcoming assembly election. The practice began in 2016, when Usha's husband, the late P T Thomas, first contested from Thrikkakara, with Leelavathy providing the deposit amount. The same has continued for Uma Thomas, his political successor. Uma Thomas visited Leelavathy at her residence on Friday. Leelavathy, who shares a long association with P T Thomas and his family, extended her wishes for Uma's candidature and said her support continues in his memory. Responding to the gesture, Uma Thomas said the support provides her with encouragement and added that receiving the same backing given to P T Thomas strengthens her campaign efforts.
