Chandran Pillai resigns as GCDA chairman
Kochi: Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) chairman K Chandran Pillai has announced his resignation, in the wake of change in govt.Pillai, national secretary of CITU, national trade union federation affiliated with CPM, highlighted Bodhi Urban Development Conclave as a definitive turning point."The national event reshaped GCDA's philosophy, shifting focus from mere brick-and-mortar construction to a holistic model integrating transport, environment, water conservation and waste management," he said.His administration prioritized people-friendly public spaces, including rejuvenation of Rajendra Maidan and Changampuzha Park, alongside developing nine distinct public spaces across nine municipalities. The authority also executed crucial community-centric projects, such as Kaloor Market renovation, Food Street initiative and She Hostels aimed at providing safe accommodation for women. tnn
