Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh Governor
Anandiben Patel directed for special attention to the innovations, implementation of govt schemes, and effective utilization of the budget, said vice-chancellor, Chandrashekar Azad Agriculture and Technology University Kanpur, Dr Sanjeev Gupta on Wednesday.
During a review meeting held at Jan Bhavan, Lucknow on Wednesday, the governor emphasized making locally manufactured agricultural products and technologies accessible to farmers. The meeting also reviewed seed production and its distribution system to farmers.
She said that it was necessary to develop a systematic work culture in accordance with production and budget. Emphasizing the need to increase agricultural production in the working area of the Agriculture University Kanpur, she said that plans should be made keeping in mind the profit of farmers. Directives were also issued to identify the problems of farmers and provide timely assistance.
Emphasis was also placed on manufacturing small agricultural implements and increasing production through their use. The need to develop small-scale technologies for processing and value addition of agricultural products was also highlighted.
The Governor spoke about promoting organic farming/natural farming and suggested that students should develop innovation-based models.
Emphasis was also placed on increasing coordination with agricultural machinery manufacturing companies. The governor emphasised on implementing research work at the practical level.
Citing the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call, she appealed for energy conservation, promotion of indigenous products, work from home, reduced fuel consumption, and avoiding unnecessary foreign travel.
During the meet the university officials informed her about efforts being made for agricultural research, seed development, and in the interest of farmers.
