AIDEF demand ‘Deemed Deputation Status’ for Ordnance factory employees
Kanpur: Several issues concerning Ordnance Factory employees were raised by the All India Defence Employees Federation (AIDEF) at a National Council (JCM) meeting held on Monday under the chairmanship of the cabinet secretary.
At the meeting, AIDEF demanded early issuance of a gazette notification granting employees “Deemed Deputation Status” until retirement. The cabinet secretary assured that the necessary recommendations in this regard were already sent to the govt and the process for a positive decision was underway.
AIDEF representative Comrade Shreekumar, briefing at the meeting, stated that during the course of a case filed in the Madras high court, the Central govt clarified in writing that no changes would be made to any employee’s service conditions without their consent.
He said Ordnance Factory employees had already communicated in writing that they did not wish for any change in their current service conditions and wished to continue serving as govt employees.
AIDEF organisation secretary Comrade Saurabh Singh Chauhan stated that regarding pending compassionate appointments in Ordnance Factories, the cabinet secretary directed the secretary, Defence Production to obtain necessary approval from the Ministry of Labour within one week and commence the process of compassionate appointments at the earliest.
He stated that approximately 500 compassionate appointments were expected across the city’s five ordnance factories, bringing relief to families waiting for a long time, and creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm among employees.
Comrade Shreekumar and Comrade Ravindra Reddy participated in the meeting on behalf of AIDEF.
