Advocates apprise dist judhe of court problems
Kanpur: A delegation of advocates led by Ravindra Sharma, convener Adhivakta Kalyan Sangharsh Samiti on Wednesday met with district judge Kanpur Nagar Anmol Pal and apprised him of the problems prevailing in court premises as well as of courts.
Sharma told the district judge that ideally courts should be arranged sequentially with their administrative offices situated behind them. However, in the Nyaya Bhawan (Justice Building), the offices are located across the road or on different floors. Frequent changes in the jurisdiction of the courts are causing severe difficulties for both advocates and the litigants. Case files are even missing, hearings are not taking place on time, and orders are not being issued within the stipulated time frame.
Court rooms lack even adequate seating arrangements for lawyers, and in many places, the chairs are broken and dilapidated. Due to the absence of proper seating facilities for litigants, they are often compelled to remain standing. The elevators frequently break down, and the situation within the Copying Department is also extremely dire, to the extent that lawyers are forced to personally follow up on their requests for copies.
The court rooms within the old Kanpur Dehat court complex are small, yet they are furnished with oversized tables. This results in a significant shortage of space. Furthermore, the staircases in several areas are broken, posing a risk of falls. Therefore, all these issues should be resolved expeditiously.
Sharma stated that upon receiving the report, the district judge immediately forwarded it to the court manager and the Nazir, issuing orders to repair the damaged staircase today itself, while also providing an assurance that other issues would be resolved expeditiously.
