Gang-rape victim dies in Pali

Jodhpur: A 42-year-old gang-rape victim died during treatment in Pali late Thursday evening. She had been held captive for three days, gang- raped and beaten by two unidentified persons. Police had admitted her to Bangar Hospital of Pali on August 6, four days after her abduction. Police, who have been searching for the accused, have now applied appropriate sections to the case and got the postmortem done on Friday, before handing over the body to the woman's family.According to DSP (Pali Rural) Ratnaram Dewasi, a case was filed in Audyogik Nagar police station on August 2 by the woman's brother stating that her sister had gone missing.“On August 6, she reached police station with her brother and filed a gang-rape report against two unidentified persons stating that she was abducted by them in a car on August 2 while going to a shop near the railway station to buy groceries,” he said.In her report, she said they blind-folded and beat her in the car while taking to some unknown place, where she was held in captivity and raped. On August 5, they dumped her near a nullah in the city in an injured state, from where she somehow managed to inform her brother.“Next day, she came to the police station to file a report and thereafter was admitted to the hospital. While undergoing treatment, she suddenly left the hospital for home on Thursday morning. As her condition worsened, she was readmitted to the hospital where she finally died,” said the officer. “We have not yet been able to identify the accused but have intensified the search to identify and nab them,” the officer said.
