MLA joins farmers’ protest

Jaisalmer: Sheo MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati Tuesday joined an ongoing protest at Girol village in Barmer district, where farmers and local residents have been protesting since April 9 over allegations related to Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Limited (RSMML)'s lignite mining operations.Bhati reached the protest site around 4pm, sat with demonstrators, and stayed overnight. The protesters said the agitation has continued for 26 days. "Until their demands are met, I will sit here with them," he said.Farmers and local youth alleged that RSMML acquired land in Thumbli and nearby areas for lignite mining, promising jobs to locals, but instead terminated several youth from employment.TNN
