Another student's suicide in Kota: 16-year-old NEET aspirant from Jharkhand hangs self, 23rd case this year

KOTA: A 16-year-old NEET aspirant allegedly hanged herself in her hostel room in the Vigyan Nagar area of this Rajasthan district late on Tuesday night.


The deceased girl, identified as Richa Sinha and hailing from Ranchi in Jharkhand, was a 11 class student and was preparing for NEET in a coaching institute in Kota.

"The police received information about Sinha's death around 10.30pm on Tuesday from the private hospital where she was taken," said Amar Chand, an assistant of sub-inspector at Vigyan Nagar police station.

Chand added that no suicide note was recovered from her room and the police are investigating the reason behind the suicide.

The police placed the body in the mortuary of MBS Hospital, to conduct the postmortem after the arrival of her family members.

"The reason behind extreme step by the girl is yet to be investigated," the police said.

This is the 23rd case of suicide by a coaching institute student in Kota this year. Fifteen students preparing for competitive exams killed themselves in Kota last year.
