Pawan Khera Faces Setback As SC Stays Bail, Cites Jurisdiction Issue In Assam CM Passport Row Case

The Supreme Court has delivered a sharp message in the ongoing passport row involving Pawan Khera. In a setback to the Congress leader, the court has stayed his transit anticipatory bail granted by the Telangana High Court. The reason—wrong forum. The FIR against Khera was filed in Assam, and the top court has underlined that legal relief must be sought there. The Assam government strongly argued against the Telangana order, terming it an abuse of process. The court also questioned Khera’s justification of approaching Telangana based on personal connections. This case now turns into a lesson on legal boundaries and jurisdiction. While the political heat remains, the spotlight is firmly on due process. Khera can still seek relief, but only in Assam, where the case legally belongs.
