Pakistan’s political temperature has risen again after senior leaders claimed that jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan rejected two serious offers that could have secured his release. Adviser Rana Sanaullah said efforts were made before November 26, 2024, and again recently through overseas intermediaries, but Khan backed out despite initial agreement. The government insists it wants a political solution, yet maintains Khan is unwilling to compromise unless the current setup steps aside. However, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has denied that any deal or leniency was ever offered, calling such reports false. Meanwhile, concerns over Khan’s health have intensified, with his lawyer informing the Supreme Court that he has suffered major vision loss in prison. His family alleges mistreatment. As narratives clash in Islamabad, the controversy underscores Pakistan’s deep political divide and raises fresh questions over power, negotiation and stability.
