Tharoor Pushes EU-Inspired Model Amid Rising Concerns Over Delimitation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking in the Lok Sabha, emphasized the historic significance of the women’s reservation bill and delimitation, calling it a transformative moment in India’s parliamentary democracy. He urged MPs to rise above politics and seize the opportunity to strengthen nation-building by ensuring greater participation of women in policymaking. Modi highlighted that a “Viksit Bharat” goes beyond infrastructure and economic growth, requiring inclusive governance rooted in “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.” Acknowledging delays in implementing women’s reservation, he stressed the need to accept past shortcomings and move forward collectively. He also cautioned political opponents, stating that those resisting women’s reservation may face long-term consequences, as women voters have historically not forgiven those who opposed their rights and representation in governance.
