Three killed in two road accidents in Khandwa district
Indore: Three persons were killed and two others injured in two road accidents reported in Khandwa district over the last 24 hours. Investigators cited speeding as the primary cause in both accidents.
Two 25-year-old motorcycle riders died on the spot after an unidentified speeding vehicle rammed into their two-wheeler around 10 pm on Sunday near a petrol pump on Kenud Road under Mundi police station limits.
The riders, Dharmendra of Mohad village and Mahendra of Rangaon village, were childhood friends and unmarried. They were returning home after finishing their shift at Singaji Thermal Power Plant, where they worked for a company, when the accident took place.
“A case was registered against unidentified driver. CCTV footage from nearby commercial establishments was being reviewed to identify the vehicle involved,” Mundi police station in-charge Rajendra Narvaria said.
Another accident took place on Monday morning on Omkareshwar Road near a canal in Mortakka area. A tractor-trailer loaded with manure collided with a motorcycle carrying a family of three, causing the trailer to overturn on them.
Passersby stopped their vehicles and manually lifted the overturned trailer to rescue Dilip Dawar and his two-year-old son. Dilip’s 22-year-old wife, Manisha, died on the spot from severe injuries.
Mortakka police outpost In-charge Lakhan Dawar said that the family, residents of Khargone, was visiting relatives in Dukiya village. The injured father and son were undergoing treatment at a hospital, where their conditions was reported to be stable.
The accident caused a temporary traffic jam on the highway before police cleared the wreckage.
