Indore: One person was killed and six sustained minor to severe injuries after the car they were travelling in collided head-on with a dumper truck in Pandhana under Khandwa district late on Sunday night.
According to Pandhana police, the out-of-control dumper, coming from the wrong side, crushed a Tavera (7-seater) vehicle. The incident was so severe that the car was completely wrecked, and all seven passengers travelling in it were badly trapped inside. One of the passengers, Raviraj Singh Tomar, a resident of Abhapuri, reportedly died on the spot.
All the victims, associated with the Karni Sena, are residents of Abhapuri in Khargone. They came to participate in a rally in Khandwa. The accident was reported around 11pm on Sunday near the village of Kharwa in the Pandhana police station area. The high-speed dumper, coming from the wrong side, hit the car and dragged it for about 40 feet, completely destroying it, the police said.
Six passengers also sustained injuries, with one, Chandrapal Singh Tomar, in critical condition, who was referred to Indore.
The other five passengers, identified as Shailendra Singh Tomar, Gopal Singh, Ravindra Singh Rajawat, Harshraj Singh, and Rajpal Singh Tomar, also sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment in Khandwa and Khargone.
Khandwa SP Manoj Rai said that a case has been registered while a search for the dumper truck's driver was launched. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased was handed over to the family after performing the postmortem examination. Further investigation is ongoing.
