INDORE: Crime branch of Indore police have arrested a wanted drug trafficker from Mandsaur who was allegedly involved in supplying MD drugs to the city. The accused, identified as Haroon Rasid Gajnabi, 50, a resident of Nagri village in Daloda, Mandsaur, had been on the run in connection with an earlier case.
Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya said that on September 9, the crime branch team had arrested one Samir Shah, 32, of Chandan Nagar, Indore, from Tigriya Badshah Road with around 61 grams of brown sugar.
During interrogation, Shah confessed that he had sourced the consignment from Gajnabi. Acting on this information, two police teams were deployed to trace him.
Following technical surveillance and specific intelligence inputs, Gajnabi was tracked down and taken into custody. Officials said he confessed to his involvement in
drug trafficking during questioning. He has been formally arrested and produced before court, from where police secured his remand for further investigation.
Police said the action was part of an intensified drive against narcotics trafficking in the city, under instructions from senior officials to clamp down on organised drug networks. Further legal proceedings are underway.
