India has extended its support to Nepal’s new interim government as PM Modi congratulated Sushila Karki on assuming charge as Prime Minister. In a post on X, Modi assured that India remains firmly committed to Nepal’s peace, progress, and prosperity. Karki, a trailblazer who once jailed a minister for corruption, has made history again as the 73-year-old leader chosen by both Nepal’s president and Gen Z protestors to lead during crisis. Her appointment comes after weeks of protests that left 51 dead and forced a regime collapse. As Nepal faces its most uncertain moment in decades, India’s reaction signals both solidarity and watchful engagement.
