Experts Hail ‘Nepal’s Step Towards Democracy’, Praise Sushila Karki’s Six-Month Deadline For Power

Experts have responded positively to Sushila Karki’s appointment as Nepal’s interim Prime Minister, calling it a hopeful turn after recent youth-led protests and unrest. Foreign affairs expert Robinder Sachdev said Karki brings calm and balance, and welcomed her pledge to step down within six months and ensure free elections. He noted her promise to investigate vandalism and maintain cooperation with the army during the transition. Former diplomat KP Fabian also commended the interim leadership’s clear stance on not holding power beyond the stated period. He emphasized the need for a thorough, unbiased investigation—not just into vandalism, but also the actions of security forces. Both experts stressed that a fair and peaceful transition is essential for Nepal’s democratic progress.
