Ujjain: A man was caught inside Mahakaleshwar Temple wearing glasses fitted with a hidden camera on Saturday evening, days after temple authorities tightened surveillance following filming of an engagement video on the temple premises.
According to temple officials, three youths from Indore had entered the temple under VIP protocol for darshan. While they were waiting in Sabha Mandapam area for entry towards Nandi Hall, security personnel noticed a camera embedded in the spectacles worn by one of them.
Temple staff and personnel from private security agency escorted the visitors to the temple administration office for questioning. During inquiry, the youth claimed that the spectacles were prescription glasses fitted with a hidden camera and that no videography had been carried out inside the temple.
Officials obtained a written undertaking from him stating that if any temple-related footage recorded through the device was uploaded on social media, he would be personally responsible for any legal consequences arising from it.
“During inspection, a hidden camera fitted in spectacles was detected. After verification and obtaining a written undertaking, the visitor was allowed to leave and the spectacles were returned,” Mahakal Temple management committee public relations officer, Ashish Phalwadia, said.
