Nepal PM Invokes Britain In India Border Row, Says 'We Have Also Encroached On Indian Areas'

Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah has said the United Kingdom should also show concern over the Lipulekh-Limpiyadhura border dispute, arguing that the issue stems from unresolved boundaries dating back to the British India era. Speaking in Nepal’s House of Representatives, Shah said Kathmandu had raised the matter with India, China and Britain, and had already sent a diplomatic note to India. He added that India’s response suggested resolving the issue through discussions involving historians, surveyors and experts. Shah also made a striking remark on Nepal-India border issues, saying he had learned after becoming Prime Minister that Nepal may have encroached on some areas of Indian territory as well. He stressed that both sides should sit together and examine the matter to find a solution.

TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee has thanked Rahul Gandhi for extending support after he was allegedly attacked by a mob in West Bengal’s Sonarpur. Responding to Gandhi’s post on X, Banerjee described himself as a victim of political violence and accused the BJP of using intimidation against its opponents. He said he would continue fighting to protect democracy and constitutional values. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi condemned the attack, calling it an assault on democracy and a reflection of the BJP’s politics of vendetta. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said several opposition leaders, including Gandhi, had contacted her after the incident. Banerjee was reportedly targeted with stones, shoes and eggs while visiting the family of a man allegedly killed in post-poll violence in South 24 Parganas district.
