Khargone: A man was arrested for allegedly killing his wife on suspicion of infedlity in Oon police station area of Khargone
district.
The man,
Mukesh, a resident of Surpala village, was produced before a court from where he was sent in judicial custody, said Oon
police station in-charge Dinesh Solanki.
Solanki said body of Mukesh’s wife Sangeeta Bai was found near a stream in an agricultural field at Surpala village on May 28. A case of unnatural death was initially registered and an investigation was launched. The postmortem examination indicated that the woman had died due to severe injuries, following which a case of murder was registered.
"During investigation it was found that Mukesh, frequently suspected Sangeeta’s fidelity, leading to recurring disputes
between the couple. Also, he had assaulted her and threatened her on several occasions".
Based on the findings, police took Mukesh into custody for questioning. During interrogation, he confessed to killing his wife on
May 27 following an argument over the same issue while they were returning from Iikhi village.
Police said the accused admitted that he first assaulted his wife, attacked her with a stone, and then strangled her. He
subsequently dumped the body near the stream in an attempt to conceal the crime.
