Watch: Crocodile spotted roaming on bridge after Gandhi Sagar dam gates opened; rescued

UJJAIN: A large crocodile was spotted on Gandhi Sagar dam bridge on Saturday night. The reptile roamed on the bridge for approximately an hour-and-a-half before forest department employees caught it with a rope and released it into downstream area of the dam from where it had emerged.

A video of the crocodile roaming on the bridge went viral on social media.

"Three small gates of the dam were opened on Saturday which increased water pressure in the river. This caused the crocodile to come up from the downstream area onto the bridge. There is a pathway where it was roaming," Gandhi Sagar wildlife sanctuary's western region range officer Parag Senani said.


The forest department and police patrol noticed the crocodile immediately as it came up.

Some people who had come to see the open gates of the dam recorded the crocodile's presence on the bridge on their mobile phones, making the video viral.

Forest department employees living in a nearby colony caught the crocodile with a rope and released it back into the river in the downstream area.
