Ujjain: A superintendent of child remand home in Malnavasa, Ujjain, and four home guards were removed from duty after inmates complained of facing severe mental and physical torture.
The action came during visit of Madhya Pradesh Child Rights Protection Commission chairperson, Nivedita Sharma, to the remand home on Tuesday.
The chairperson interacted with children, who detailed harrowing accounts of mistreatment and severe irregularities occurring in the home directly under the management’s supervision.
Sharma issued directives to women and child development department district programme officer,
Brajesh Tripathi, to take swift action against those found guilty.
Remand home in-charge superintendent Pratapsingh Paraste was relieved of his duties and Lokendra Singh Solanki appointed as the new in-charge.
