Telangana DCA busts illegal sale of APIs in Kukatpally

Hyderabad: The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA), in a joint raid with the Prohibition and Excise Department, recently busted the illegal sale of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in Prashanthi Nagar, Kukatpally.

During the raid at a firm operating as Synix Labs, officials found that APIs were allegedly being sold without a valid drug licence. DCA officials seized 170 gram of zidovudine, an antiviral drug, along with purchase and sale invoices related to API transactions.

“Samples have been collected for analysis, and further investigation is underway. Action will be taken against those responsible. The sale of APIs without a valid licence is punishable with imprisonment of up to five years under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act,” an official said
