RWAs recommend CCTV, security audits & staff verification in gated communities
Hyderabad: Representatives of the United Federation of Resident Welfare Associations held a meeting with the Secunderabad zone additional deputy commissioner of police J Narsaiah on Thursday to discuss measures to improve the safety of women and senior citizens while ensuring the dignity of domestic workers.
During the meeting, the delegation submitted a memorandum recommending several measures, including mandatory police verification of domestic workers, drivers and other household staff, installation of digital gate management systems in gated communities, CCTV surveillance in common areas, annual security audits and awareness programmes for residents.
The representatives also highlighted the need for verified databases of domestic workers and service personnel within residential communities. They stressed the importance of implementing balanced policies that strengthen security without leading to harassment or invasion of privacy.
The additional DCP explained various initiatives being undertaken by the Hyderabad police to enhance public safety and emergency response systems. He also spoke about the recently introduced “FIR from Home” facility and other technology-driven policing initiatives.
Officials emphasised the importance of cooperation between police authorities and resident welfare associations. The additional DCP urged welfare associations to create awareness about police verification procedures and responsible data-sharing practices.
Police officials appreciated the constructive approach of the resident welfare representatives and assured them that the recommendations would be forwarded to senior officials, including the DCP and the Hyderabad city commissioner, for further consideration.
