NEW DELHI: A man sustained minor injuries after a boat caught fire during a fireworks display at Hussain Sagar Lake on Sunday night.
The incident occurred shortly after union minister G Kishan Reddy and governor Jishnu Dev Varma had departed from the venue.
Police reported that the fire broke out when a firework rocket accidentally struck a pile of crackers stored on the boat, igniting the blaze.
The fireworks were part of the 'Bharat Mata Maha Arti' programme organised by the Bharat Mata Foundation to commemorate
Republic Day.
The injured man was promptly rushed to the hospital and is being treated for minor burns, officials confirmed.
The event was attended by several notable figures, including BJP MPs Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Eatala Rajendar, M Raghunandan Rao, and renowned music director M M Keeravani, among others.
