MEDARAM, (WARANGAL): Endowments and IT minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah had abundant police cover as he travelled in an RTC bus on Sunday to review arrangements for the
Medaram jatara at Medaram village in Tadwai mandal.
Medaram jatara is scheduled next year from February 8 to 11. The state government has sanctioned Rs 60.25 crores for developmental works at Medaram village.
He held a meeting with government officials to review arrangements for the jatara. Speaking at the meeting, the minister urged officials to speed up works and see to it that those were completed by January 15.
Lakshmaiah journeyed from Pasra village to Medaram in the RTC bus. He was accompanied by Mahabubabad MP P Balaram Naik and district collector B Rahul.
He said that the state government has given a lot of importance to the tribal festival of the Medaram, by releasing the Rs 60 crores for the developmental works.
Lakshmaiah reviewed R&B and irrigation works and inspected the RTC bus station that had been allotted earlier by the district administration.
OSD Dayanand Reddy, Mulug ASP Sintel Kumar made elaborate security arrangement for the minister tour, Wardhannapet MLA Kondeti Sridhar, senior congress leader and INTUC state secretary E Varada Rajeshwar Rao Mulugu, sub collector Sarparaj Ahmed and all the concern government department heads took part in the review meeting. Earlier, minister offered prayers to the Medaram deities at the platform.
