Salman Khan to Munawar Faruqui: Celebs on gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s 'hit list'
Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has been named by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in several high-profile cases. The latest case in which the incarcerated gangster is a key accused is the murder of 66-year-old Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader who was shot and killed in Mumbai.
According to a report by India Today, Bishnoi, who is currently in Gujarat's Sabarmati Jail, has been found to have a ‘hit list’ that includes names of Bollywood stars, comedians, politicians, and other high-profile figures. The gangster's crime syndicate, which has reportedly grown to 700 members, is under investigation after their alleged involvement in Siddique's shooting on Dussehra night.
Earlier this year, they made an attempt on the life of actor Salman Khan by firing shots outside his Bandra home. Gangster Goldy Brar, also associated with Bishnoi, had previously claimed responsibility for the killing of Sidhu Moosewala.

Authorities suggest that the gang’s operations now go beyond just targeting Khan, aiming to infiltrate Bollywood, a domain once dominated by Dawood Ibrahim’s underworld network, often called 'D-Company.'
According to reports, Bollywood superstar Salman is one of Bishnoi's prime targets for his involvement in a blackbuck poaching case, an animal that is sacred in the Bishnoi community. In April this year, two men on a bike opened fire outside Khan's residence. The Mumbai Police claimed that the shooters were hired by Bishnoi's gang, who had allegedly conspired to kill the actor.

Latest reports doing the rounds also claim that comedian Munawar Faruqui has been targeted by the gangster. Faruqui was allegedly attacked by gunmen during a wedding in Delhi. The incident prompted intelligence agencies to relocate him back to Mumbai under heightened security measures.
Shaganpreet Singh, the manager of the late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, is also reportedly on the Bishnoi 'hit list'. Reports state that the gangster believes that Singh sheltered those responsible for the killing of Vicky Middukhera, his close associate who was murdered in August 2021 in Mohali.
In a bid to dismantle the gangster-terror network associated with the Babbar Khalsa International, the NIA named Bishnoi last year in a chargesheet in a terror case, detailing his criminal activities, and smuggling of weapons, explosives and drugs from Pakistan. The anti-terror agency had claimed that the gangster was instrumental in coordinating communication channels, enabling seamless interactions among gang members, even those incarcerated in jails.
The NIA had claimed that Bishnoi was running an extortion syndicate with Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, who has close links with pro-Khalistan terror outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
