HYDERABAD: All India Congress Committee (AICC) president
Mallikarjun Kharge will visit the city on July 4 and hold a meeting with the political affairs committee (PAC), comprising chief minister A Revanth Reddy, AICC in charge of Telangana Meenakshi Natarajan, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, ministers, and senior leaders.
He will interact with TPCC executive members, presidents of gram panchayat, and mandal level committees in the evening.
The meetings with PAC and other members aim to review the status of the ruling Congress, welfare promises being implemented, and whether they were being effectively taken to the doorsteps of the voters. They will discuss Congress promises yet to be implemented, the party's preparedness for
panchayat elections, the 42% Backward Classes quota, the Jubilee Hills bypoll, delimitation, and other organisational matters like 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bheem, and Samvidhan' rallies.
TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud told reporters that the Congress was gearing up for the local body polls and Jubilee Hills by-polls. He criticised BRS MLC Kavitha for her remarks on women's empowerment, saying the previous BRS govt didn't have woman minister in its first term.
"Why did Kavitha not speak about women's empowerment then?" he asked. Stating that he has high regard for MP and BC leader R Krishnaiah, Goud questioned on what basis he extended support to Kavitha on BC quota issue when previous BRS govt didn't conduct a caste survey or talk about enhancing BC quota.
