Largest Vedic school in T’gana to come up at Yadagirigutta
Hyderabad: A new Vedic school, set to be established on the land parcels belonging to the Lakshmi Narsimha Swamy Temple in Yadagirigutta, is coming up on an expansive 15 acres at a cost of ₹43 crore. This institution will not only be the largest in the state but also one of the biggest in southern India. Exclusive information obtained by TOI reveals that the school will operate under the auspices of Kanchi Peetham and is expected to become operational within 24 months. Chief minister A Revanth Reddy will participate in the groundbreaking ceremony of the school on Saturday.According to officials, the school aims to produce various types of Vedic scholars, as students will have the opportunity to learn all four Vedas – Rig Veda, Yajur Veda, Sama Veda, and Atharva Veda, as well as the Agamas. Importantly, students will earn a degree equivalent to 10 years of study in Vedas and other texts, and a postgraduate equivalent in 12 years. Vedic scholar courses will be for a minimum of seven years, and archaka courses will be for five years. All Veda students will reside in hostels, as the school will function as a residential institution. A Hyderabad-based architectural firm has prepared the master plan at no cost, and the facility will accommodate nearly 300 residential students.
According to officials, the total cost of the project will be around ₹43 crore, and is to be borne by the government. The syllabus will be preapred by Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. “Upon completing their training, students will be eligible for appointment as Vedic scholars in famous temples across India,” said Hanumanta Rao, the endowment commissioner. The school will feature a goshala (cow shelter), a large kitchen, a yagyashala (sacred fire hall), a compound wall with a solar fence, and a large lecture hall, among other important amenities. The first phase of construction is expected to be completed in 15 months, the second phase in six months, and the third phase in three months.Officials mentioned that this will be the third Vedic school managed by a temple in the state, joining the Gnana Saraswati Temple in Basara and the Sri Vidya Saraswati Shani Temple in Wargal, both of which also operate Vedic schools. “While there are a few privately run Vedic schools in smaller premises, this will be the largest in the state,” stated the officials. According to them, well-qualified teachers from Kanchi Peetham, along with local Vedic scholars, will provide Vedic education to the students. “Other details regarding the management of the school are being compiled,” added the authorities.
