HYDERABAD: An auto-rickshaw driver allegedly threatened traffic police personnel with a dead snake after being caught for drunken driving here, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred on Saturday in an area under the Chandrayangutta Traffic Police Station limits, where the driver was stopped during a routine check and found driving the three-wheeler in an allegedly intoxicated state, according to news agency PTI.
Police said a case was registered against the driver. The traffic personnel took the auto-rickshaw into “safe custody” and asked him to remove his belongings from the vehicle.
At that point, the driver reportedly pulled out a dead snake and attempted to threaten the policemen, demanding that no case be registered against him and that his vehicle be released, the official said.
He later fled the spot.
In a video circulated on social media, the auto-rickshaw driver is seen holding the snake and approaching a traffic policeman, and is heard saying, “Take this (snake)...I want my vehicle (back) right now”.
