Hyderabad: Parts of Telangana saw scattered thunderstorm activity on Monday, but temperatures remained high, underscoring ongoing heatwave conditions.
Even in Hyderabad, daytime temperatures stayed elevated across most areas. Data from GHMC showed several localities recording maximums above 40°C. The highest was 41.7°C at New Nagole (Saroornagar circle), followed by 41.6°C in Musheerabad (Chilkalguda) and 41.5°C in Santosh Nagar and Charminar. Other hotspots included LB Nagar (41.3°C), Amberpet (41.4°C), Malkajgiri (41.3°C) and Mehdipatnam (41.1°C). Even relatively cooler zones remained warm, with 39.7°C at the University of Hyderabad in Serilingampally and 39.8°C at BHEL, Ramachandrapuram. Most areas stayed in the alert category (40–45°C), indicating continued heat stress.
According to the
India Meteorological Department (IMD), conditions will remain unstable over the next 24 hours. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds and hail are very likely at isolated places in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Sangareddy and Kamareddy districts.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are also likely across Nizamabad, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Medak, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal.
Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious amid the dual impact of heat and sudden weather changes.
