Hyderabad: The Telangana govt, which created the new power discom, Telangana Rythu Power Distribution Company Limited (TGRPDCL), is in the process of finalising the division of assets among the three discoms, including NPDCL and SPDCL. Within just two months, the ministry of corporate affairs (MCA) approved the division of assets and power purchase agreements (PPAs).
The crucial employee division process has also reached its final stage. According to TGRPDCL officials, as part of the key asset division process required for field-level operations, the focus has first been placed on the survey of agricultural distribution transformers (DTRs). Officials stated that there are nearly 5.6 lakh agricultural transformers across the state. Plans have been made to deploy three survey teams in each of the 744 operational sections, resulting in a total of 2,232 teams participating in the survey every day.
For this purpose, the Rythu discom has developed a special mobile application. Through the app, assistant engineers will collect photographs of the transformer structures, DTR emboss numbers, and nameplate details of agricultural DTRs under their jurisdiction, while also recording the geo-coordinates of the respective transformers, officials said.
In this context, CMDs and senior officials of the three discoms held a video conference on Wednesday and discussed the survey of agricultural distribution transformers proposed to come under the jurisdiction of the TGRPDCL. Officials also informed that, on a pilot basis, the survey of certain agricultural distribution transformers had already been successfully conducted in the Rajendranagar circle.
Meanwhile, the Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission (TGERC) will conduct a public hearing on granting a licence to the Rythu discom on May 28. TGRPDCL CMD Musharraf Faruqui said that once the asset mapping process is completed, the discom is likely to commence full-fledged operations from June 2, subject to the govt’s decision.
